Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

This incident caused the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
